COVID-19 Insurance Coverage

All of the AlfaTravel Insurance Programs cover the COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) as a sudden onset of an acute illness.
«Medical and Other Expense» risks insurance covers travel expense which can be caused by COVID-19 coronavirus infection, i.e.:
- outpatient and/or inpatient medical expense;
- medical transportation expense;
- repatriation of the deceased (repatriation of remains) expense;
- transportation expense (i.e. if return ticket was not used because of hospitalisation, expenses associated with travelling to the place of permanent residence, evacuation of children to country of permanent residence).
Premium, Auto D, Classic, Business VIP Programs — cover transport expenses for traveling to place of permanent residence if return of the Insured was delayed by being on quarantine after a positive test result for the coronavirus disease.
Premium¹ Program covers accommodation expense for the observation period:
- expense for accommodation in quarantine centres/observation areas, or additional hotel accommodation expense during isolation, prerequisite the required isolation term exceeds the originally planned accommodation/booking period;
- actual costs incurred for purchased food (including non-alcoholic beverages).
- transportation expense (expenses of the Insured for travelling to its permanent place of residence, if the departure of the Insured did not take place on time for the reason of being in quarantine, which is required in the country of temporary stay).
«Trip Cancellation» risk coverage includes indemnification for expenses associated with not taking a planned trip for reasons, which may also include COVID-19 coronavirus infection, as follows:
- death of the Insured, his/her Close Relative, Spouse of the Insured or a Close Relative of the Insured’s Spouse, which occurred not earlier than 15 (fifteen) days before the Trip start date;
- hospitalization (excl. visits to day-hospitals) of the Insured, his/her Close Relative, Spouse of the Insured or Close Relative of the Insured’s Spouse, which occurred not earlier than 15 (fifteen) days before the Trip start date;
- infectious disease the Insured Person became affected with after the Contract signing date and not earlier than 15 (fifteen) days before the Trip start date.
«Trip Cancellation Extended» Program additionally indemnifies expenses from missing a planned trip if the Insured was in quarantine, preconditioned the «Self-Isolation Regime» requirement was in force as at the trip start date.
